James S Hunter Design is a small studio based in the Hertfordshire. Creating quality furniture and products that are handmade with care and precision.

Born in Stafford, raised in the North East of England where I completed a BA (Hons) Design for Industry course at Northumbria University in 2011.

I then studied at the International Boatbuilding Training College in Lowestoft, where I worked on various projects to develop traditional carpentry skills and to further improve my understanding of materials.

Following college I have completed internships for designers and makers across the country to further develop my skills. I have worked on some really interesting projects for clients such as Modus, Arco, Harvey Nichols and the Mercury Music Awards. I have worked on a range of products across lighting and furniture throughout their development from initial research to final modelling.

I have also worked for a rapid prototype specialist as a model maker, finishing various prototype models to high standards. I worked on a range of projects ranging from one off models for design consultancies to parts for car manufacturers and Formula One racing teams.
